Park Na Rae Completes Police Interview, Files Additional Charges

Comedian Park Na Rae has already completed her police interview.

According to a report on the 23rd, Park Na Rae appeared at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 19th as a complainant and was questioned. This was her first police interview since the issue arose. Her side stated, “Since it was a complainant’s interview, it was conducted privately, and she gave a statement for about six hours.” The former managers accused of attempted extortion were also reportedly questioned by the police on the 20th.

Separately, on the 20th, Park Na Rae filed additional charges against two former managers for embezzlement related to their duties. This was an additional action following the earlier complaint for attempted extortion. Park Na Rae’s side has claimed that the former managers demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company’s previous year’s sales even after receiving severance pay, and that the demanded amount later grew to several hundred million won.

Her agency explained the background of the embezzlement charges by saying, “One of the former managers established a private corporation, and there is evidence that funds were transferred out through that corporation.” Accordingly, the police are investigating the facts related to both the attempted extortion and embezzlement charges.

On the other hand, Park Na Rae’s former managers have also filed complaints against her for charges including special injury, defamation, and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act. As allegations such as abuse of power and illegal medical procedures overlap, investigations are currently ongoing at both Yongsan and Gangnam Police Stations.

As the controversy expanded, Park Na Rae announced she would suspend her activities. On the 16th, she stated on her YouTube channel, “There are parts of the facts that need to be calmly confirmed regarding the current allegations, and legal procedures are underway,” adding, “I will not make any additional public statements or explanations during this process.”
