Police Launches Narcotics Probe Against Female Celebrity Following “Injection Auntie” Scandal
YouTuber Short Mouth Sun (real name Kim Mi Kyung) is facing a narcotics investigation after she was reported to the authorities on charges of violating the Medical Service Act.
According to reports, on December 19, KST, the Seoul Mapo Police Station accepted the complaint related to Short Mouth Sun and assigned it to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Team. The complaint accused the YouTuber of illegal use of diet drugs, the transfer of prescription medications containing psychotropic substances, and IV drip treatments. The complainant also requested an investigation into the possible application of the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Health Crimes.
Previously, suspicions were raised by the public that Short Mouth Sun had received diet pills from the infamous “Injection Auntie,” a person identified by her surname “Lee,” who stands accused of illegally carrying out medical practices on celebrities without having the proper license to do so in Korea. It is being alleged that Short Mouth Sun and Park Na Rae received IV drip treatments and body-contouring procedures using a high-frequency stimulation device, classified as a medical device, from Lee.
Short Mouth Sun has addressed the allegations already, stating that she was led to believe Lee was a legitimate doctor. She also admitted to receiving medication for swelling at the clinic where Lee worked, but denied that it had anything to do with diet pills or IV drip treatments.
“Amazing Saturday” Loses Another Cast Member Due To “Injection Auntie” Controversy
While the case has just been registered against Short Mouth Sun, she is already facing real-life consequences over these allegations. According to reports, the YouTuber lost around 20,000 subscribers immediately after admitting that she received home treatment from the “Injection Auntie” and announced suspension of broadcasting activities, bringing her subscriber count to 1.74 million from 1.76 million in less than a day.
Her controversy has also put the future of the popular variety show, Amazing Saturday, into great jeopardy.
